Saltash Regatta and Waterside Festival on 17th and 18th June 2017 is one of the most colourful events held in Cornwall and certainly for South East Cornwall is the most popular annual Regatta.
Gig racing, hosted by Saltash based Caradon Pilot Gig Club, is run to the highest standard with rowing on the Saturday, with a Flash Boat Regatta ran by Saltash Rowing Club on the Sunday.
Also on the river you'll find sailing, canoeing, swimming and following on after the success of its inaugural year, this year sees the return of the cardboard boat race on Sunday afternoon!
Saltash Regatta is not just about water sports, there is so much more ashore to keep everyone in the family happy and very entertained including a host of local bands and community performances including music from The Andy Quick Band, The Big Sets and Devon born and bred singer songwriter Alex Hart.
Sunday also sees two brand new event at the Regatta! Saltash Churches Together are holding a morning service on the Waterside Green for parishioners; and youngsters in Saltash, come along and paint bomb your peers on Sunday afternoon using non-toxic, environmentally friendly coloured corn starch paints! Old clothing highly recommended!
Culinary delights throughout the weekend include a wide range of speciality coffees; Latin American street food, hog roast, doughnuts, ice creams, burgers, steak baguettes, Mexican, Italian and Cuban tastes to suit all palates.
Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be served from Shelley's open-air bar, The Union, Two Bridges and Just Be, all on the Waterfront.
Get here by train with Great Western Railway – the train station is short walk from the Waterfront, or pick up the Saltash Hopper community bus which will be running from the Waterfront to locations around the town free of charge.
